Welcome to my crafty, travelin, and all things life blog...

Welcome to my blog The Travelin Crafter...
I have never blogged nor written anything of importance so this will be a fun adventure.   I am an Artist..whew  that takes a lot out of a person. I don't have a fancy degree just a great love of all things creative. ...the ability to create something from nothing.
I started my love of art supplies...from a very young age.  I will take you back to the 70's...I remember getting my first watercolor set (awful brush included), construction paper, the rubber cement in the red topped bottle, and lets not forget the green handled safety scissors.  Not a lot for a budding artist to say the least.  I had the usual coloring books and crayons nothing fancy for an 8 year old.   I had gotten the fun gifts for Christmas...the Giraffe Marionette puppet kit...Magic Rocks (fun to see them grow)...oh and the usual underwear and new toothbrush.  The puppet was a really fun craft...I may even have a pic of that day making it on our kitchen table.  Sooo back to my love of creating...it doesn't just mean the typical "artist stuff"   I love all historical crafts as well...restoration of old houses, quilting, Pysanky, knitting, crocheting.  I remember when our class  took  a trip the Roseberry House in grade school ...a historical house that was in the process of being restored.  There is where I saw my first dipped candle for me it was mesmerizing. The vat of wax, the wooden burning fire and all the skinny wicks that gradually got fatter with each dip.   Then it was our field trip to The Clinton Mill in NJ.  There were craftsman there throwing pottery, carving wood, making stained glass ornaments, and even a glass blower. I could stay all day a watch them work.   This is what stimulated my mind.  Along with the usual art I also love to garden, harvest and can the crop.  Through out high school I was lucky enough to have a good art program, where I took every art class, crafts class and everything in between.
So, 30 years later I start my journey as The Travelin Crafter....enjoy!
